Can we just take a moment to talk about how fucking badass Mai is?

Such an underrated character. Thoughts on she and Zuko’s relationship aside, Mai is her own character, and a seriously awesome one. Lots of people criticize her as boring, or negative or bitchy, or mean, and they think she snaps for no reason.

But no, Mai always has a reason.

She has her own values and her own agenda. Mai is poised, calm, stubborn, and a Motherfucking Ninja. She presses forward silently, and is always thinking about the situation, she may care very little about what doesn’t matter to her but when someone disrespects her, or gets in the way of her personal goals and ideals, she TAKES. NO. SHIT.

First of all, She kicks some serious fucking ass. She doesn’t need any fucking bending. She doesn’t need a bigass sword, fancy fans, and she doesn’t need to disarm the enemy with chiblocking, she uses these tiny fucking knives that come out of NOWHERE and she slices and dices ANYTHING that fucks with the Dangerous Ladies.

The knives are for when she fights for Azula and the Fire Nation. When Mai fights her own battles, she never uses knives, she uses a better weapon: her words. and when she uses them, she NEVER FUCKING LOSES.
She rarely takes a stand for anything, but when she does, everyone listens.

“I love Zuko more than I fear you.”

In my opinion this is the best single sentence in all of Avatar. Short, sweet, and to the point. Mai is completely calm when she says this, not a trace of the inner turmoil or fears she must be facing show. She says her peace and accepts her fate silently. Azula may be the most powerful villain, but in the end, it’s Mai’s 8 little words that bring Azula down. She thinks about them, and agonizes over them, and it drives her CRAZY.

((To be fair, the betrayal of Ty Lee which follows Mai’s words also probably had an equal affect (Tyzula is SO my headcanon) but Mai was the trigger. ))

And then this panel from the promise. Just look at that. She’s totally calm, totally poised, totally respectful, yet totally defiant. She just tells off the FUCKING FIRELORD (AND her BOYFRIEND) then just walks away calmly. Mai must want to scream, she must want to cry, be passive aggressive, be angry, be jealous, but she NEVER loses her cool. She doesn’t need to explain her values, she doesn’t have to justify herself. She knows what she believes in, she knows what she thinks is right, and she knows when she’s had enough. She decides how to respond, and she executes it without batting an eyelash. She serves justice in her own way. She doesn’t need approval, she doesn’t need Zuko to run after her apologizing, or Azula and Ty Lee to understand her.  She just lets her words sink in, and the lets the revolution that they set in motion take place.

BADASS. TO THE CORE.

and I am kind of so proud of myself, even though it didn’t turn out the way I wanted to and I didn’t include Yue, who I wanted to be here but who I was way too lazy and tired to draw.

also background… I am awful at drawing backgrounds, and I can’t wait until I will finally improve enough to make my background look good enough.


I wanted to draw Harry Potter-Avatar crossover for such a long time, and I have much more ideas with characters crossovers, but obviously I can’t draw it normally-_- But still, I am happy I finally did this one^^
It just popped out in my head when I re-watched ATLA..also while getting ‘quite a few’ messages from people complaining about me not drawing Harry Potter as frequently as I used to..*sorry about that*

So, now about houses.
I honestly can’t see Zuko anywhere else but on Gryffindor. He quite reminds me of Sirius considering all his family mass, so he’s a true Gryffindor, not to mention he’s so hot headed:3
Sokka, in my head, would definitely be on Ravenclaw, because even despite his dorky attitude (sometimes), I guess he’s actually the smartest in the group (when it comes to all those planning-map reading-strategy stuff), which, I guess, is quite Ravenclaw.
Aang is Hufflepuff. I didn’t even doubt it a single minute, even though he’s brave enough to be in Gryffindor. He’s just.. Aang is Aang, a little weirdo<3
I had quite a hard choice on Katara, because..well she’s smart enough for Ravenclaw, and brave and caring and has enough quialities for Gryffindor.. so I wasn’t sure and this choice was a little bit random. But still, I am all for Mighty Katara on Gryffindor:D
Toph.. I also had quite a problem with sorting her, but still.. she’s kind of royalty, she’s the Melon Lord.. so, Slytherin:3
So is Azula whom I didn’t even think a minute. Azula is probably the TRUE Slytherin.
mm Ty Lee is Hufflepuff but mostly because she loves pink,(no I am not serious here)  haha, I am not sure about it. But I like her being on Hufflepuff the most.
Suki is Gryffindor. She’s the warrior, after all:3 idk idk I guess she would also fit on Ravenclaw with Sokka, but I went for Gryffindor.
Mai….I wasn’t sure if I should have her on Slytherin or on Ravenclaw, but ended up in Slytherin.. and I am honestly not sure why, except for her not showing any emotion to random people, only for the chosen ones, like Zuzu<3
Jet… oh Jet… this choice was kind of random, too.

Also Appa… This Appa was to be made out of paper, Aang just playing with it using his magic, but I totally failed making him looking like he’s made out of paper. aanddd I forgot to colour Sokka’s boomerang. -____-

anyway, I wrote a big clumsy terrible description, so now I will just leave it like this..Hope you’ll like it:3


PS: 10 points to your house if you noticed Zuko’s To do list.
10 more if you can read Ty Lee’s bubble and one more detail nearby. And another 10 points for Jet’s Fire Nation sucks badge.
